With the Great Northern Exhibition just over a month away, the Collingwood Agricultural Society is hard at word fundraising for event operating costs. One of the organization’s most beloved events is their Chicken Dinner Drive-Thru, a tradition that began in the wake of Covid.
Partnering with local barbecue company Jim’s BBQ Chicken, the society takes over the main agricultural building of the GNE Fairgrounds and prepares for a whirlwind evening of serving 300 chicken dinners to folks from all over the region. The team begins their preparations early in the morning portioning out rolls and coleslaw for all of the pending pick-ups, and once the chicken has been barbecued to perfection at Jim’s mobile charcoal grill, they’re transferred over to the serving area in sealed food-safe boxes for the serving team to pack up and ship out.
At $25 per head, the drive-thru raises over $7000 for the Agricultural Society which infuses the organization with necessary funds as they enter the final weeks before the GNE kick-off. For more information, visit https://www.greatnorthernex.com/
