The Collingwood Skating Club’s annual carnival is a club-wide showcase of talent, skill, and progress. Over 200 skaters ranging from three-years-old all the way to adults come together for an afternoon of group and solo performances. This year, the theme was Family Vacation on Ice, and all of the numbers served to transport audiences to different vacation destinations around the world.
Over 300 tickets to the event were sold, which took place at the Eddie Bush Arena in Collingwood. The carnival has become at immensely popular event offered by the club, attracting skater family and friends as well as members of the general public who love skating and supporting local organizations.
The highlight of the show was watching performances from special guest Nam Nguyen; a Canadian National Championship figure skater. Appearances from accomplished skaters do more than just attract visitors though, they inspire and motivate the club member to continue striving for excellence while developing their own skills and building their confidence on the ice.
The Collingwood Skating Club is part of the CanSkate program, which focuses on teaching basic skills that build over time and equip participants with the knowledge and experience to pursue a variety of skating disciplines from figure skating to hockey to ringette and more. The program is open to skaters of all ages and skill levels, and new members are welcomed every year.
