For nearly 50 years, the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA) has supported visual artists across the region through workshops, residencies, grants and the popular Juried Art Show. This year, a record number of submissions were received from South Georgian Bay and beyond, with over 200 artists participating in adult and student categories. From those submissions 120 pieces were selected to be hung at the BMFA’s home at 65 Simcoe Street. Three pieces from each category were awarded first, second, and third place. Winners received their certificates along with bragging rights and cash prizes.
The Juried Art Show officially opened on April 6th. It provides artists with the opportunity to have their work reviewed and critiqued by professional judges; a great value to any artist, but especially to participating students. From there, the judges select which pieces will be hung for the duration of the show which runs until May 31st.
The show is free to enter. Many of the pieces on display are available for purchase through the BMFA shop. For more information, visit https://www.bmfa.on.ca/
