When Michael Croll’s father started Wasaga 500 Go-Karts with a $3000 loan from his mother, he could never have predicted the booming family business his enterprise would become. Growing up on the one-mile track, Michael loved what his father built since childhood, and he could not imagine doing anything other than carrying on the family legacy.
As the business grew so did the property, and now the 500 boasts not only its signature karts, but two 18-hole mini golf courses and nine batting cages as well. Between 5-10 000 people visit annually, making the Wasaga 500 Go-Karts one of the most popular destinations in South Georgian Bay for tourists and locals alike.
With the Beach undergoing major reconstruction, Croll has noticed an uptick in attendance as visitors to the area seek out new ways to spend their time white visiting the town. While he is delighted to welcome so many people to his establishment, he hopes that as the Beach navigates its transition into its new identity, the 500 remains a major source of family fun in Wasaga.
