When Chris Webb joined the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach, it was to help his business succeed through networking and visibility, but after delivering Easter hampers to help the food bank, his perspective was forever altered. Moved by the sheer scale of poverty and inequality he saw with in his own community, Webb’s mission became one of selflessness and humanity. He new serves as the Club President and gathered the community together to celebrate an other successful year of the Corvette Lottery; a 25-year tradition that continues to grow in both scale and success.
The evening united 30 charities, services groups, and charitable organizations to not only receive their share of the lottery proceeds, but to outline how the Rotary contributions will benefit their respective initiatives. Among the recipients were hospital foundations, child and family support groups, shelters, recreation clubs, and arts organizations. Each benefactor listed their minimum and maximum funding requests as a part of their application processes, and the Club allocated the funding in accordance with those needs. In total, the lottery raised $200 000 to distribute amongst the participants.
The Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach has been serving the community for over 40 years and the Corvette Lottery continues to be one of its most successful and impactful programs. For more information, visit https://www.wasagabeachrotary.com/
