Rock’n’Rope

Climbers Corner in Collingwood is committed to growing and nurturing its enthusiastic community of rock climbers, and for the second year in a row the gym hosted its official competition. Rock’n’Rope attracts not only local Climbers Corner members, but climbers of all ages and experience levels from around South Georgian Bay.
The competition consists of climbers taking on brand new routes and scoring as many points at possible. Points are awarded for the number of routes attempted and the number of tries it takes for the climbers to successfully complete each route. The routes increase in difficulty, but the climbers are not briefed on the grade at which each one is rated, so the competitors work together to discover the best formulas for success.
The event occurs over two days, with the adult competition running first and the children’s competition following. Climbers are competing for prizes like free gym memberships and gift cards, as well as bragging rights.
This year, the competition was held on February 7th and 8th, and approximately 50 climbers were registered over both days. For more information, visit https://www.climberscorner.ca/
