Pottery Class
1m 58s
Vanessa Aragona of Vara Studios in Thornbury shares her love of pottery with a group of new potters at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library. Fifteen participants gathered to learn the basic skills behind working with clay and creating pieces without relying on tools like pottery wheels. This class is just one of many introductory sessions offered through the library, which aims to reduce barriers to entry for unique activities and hobbies.
After a brief demonstration by Vanessa, participants were free to explore creating either a bud vase or an herb collector, in keeping with Earth Month and the connection between clay and creativity. The class ran from 4pm-6pm on April 10th and the cost to participate was $50. This, and all other classes and events hosted at the library, was open to participants of all ages as a means of uniting the community and encouraging anyone interested in trying out a new activity to register.
The L.E. Shore Memorial Library runs a wide variety of events, workshops, author and artist talks, and many other ancillary programs designed to engage the community and keep the library culture thriving. For more information on upcoming events, visit https://www.thebluemountainslibrary.ca/
