Now in its 29th year, the Meaford Harbour 5K has become a hallmark of the community. With nearly 10% of the entire town registered to participate, it’s evident that the people of Meaford love their local hospital and will do whatever it takes to ensure it continues running at full steam.

This year, the event featured a 5K walk or run along with a 1K Kids Fun Run. The $100 000 fundraising target was projected to be exceeded, and participants were blessed with fair weather, if not scorching temperatures. This year, the funding is designated for capital investment in the Emergency Department, which needs critical updates to its technology and services. When asked for comment, Nurse Winters of the ER expressed that the department continues to see more and more patients, and that funding is one of their keys to success to help ensure efficient flow and resource management.
