Community Assists Day

In lieu of many residents of The Blue Mountains and surrounding areas being unable to travel to large centres for critical resources like employment support and disability services, Community Assists Day was launched. The series invited organizations to visit the L.E. Shore Memorial Library to provide information, answer questions, and offer free resources to attendees.
The most recent instalment featured Hear Canada, a hearing support organization that has recently opened a new facility in Collingwood. With hearing loss growing across all populations and affecting 19% of Canadians, Hear Canada’s commitment to reducing cost barriers to hearing aids is necessary to helping people preserve and improve their hearing.
The participating organizations varied over the course of the program, which ran monthly until June, 2025. The roster included CNIB, Grey Bruce Public Health, and estate lawyers among others. While Community Assists will be paused for the summer, it is slated to resume in September.
