Charity Clothing Swap

For the second year in a row, Araxi and Sydney Davidian of Davidian Events hosted a clothing swap to raise funds for My Friend’s House. The impressive collection of clothing was curated by Emily Rand of Joyful Homes; a professional home organizer. The clothing swap not only encouraged people to donate gently used items to others eager to add to their wardrobe, it instilled a great sense of pride for participants who knew that their involvement made a direct impact on the area’s local women’s shelter.
While My Friend’s House is supported provincially, the charity relies on donations, corporate fundraisers, and third party events to cover up to 60% of its annual operating costs, making initiatives like the clothing swap crucial to the organization’s success.
The event proved massively popular again this year, with all fifty preregistered tickets selling out. Participants were asked to donate $10, and their admission allowed them to fill one bag with as many items of their choosing that could fit. With brands like Lululemon, Aritzia, and American Eagle up for grabs, savvy shoppers were able to leave with great value in tow.
