RAD Halfpipe Camp

The Halfpipe is a snowboarding discipline that is becoming harder to learn every year. Currently, Apline Ski Club is one of only two clubs in Canada that has a Halfpipe, and it’s the only one open in Ontario. Because of this, some people; particularly young snowboarders, have never even seen a Halfpipe before, so Alpine has opened its doors to welcome riders from across the province to join their Rider Advancement and Development (RAD) Camp.
The four-week program gives riders the chance to learn this challenging discipline. Participants have the choice between registering for all four weeks or just individual dates, and for only $45 a day, the program reduces many economic barriers that riders who are not members at Alpine may face to getting into the sport.
The program is run in conjunction with Canada Snowboard and features instruction from some of the country’s most accomplished riders, including Olympian Calynn Irwin as the camp’s Technical Leader.
The camp hosts around 50 participants each week, and while many are visiting from the South Georgian Bay area, others are coming in from further afield. All riders are met where they are skill-wise, with some being introduced to Halfpipe for the very first time, and others honing their skills as they prepare to compete provincially and beyond.
RAD Camp runs February 7th, 14th, 21st, and March 5th. For more information, visit https://www.canadasnowboard.ca/en/events/rad-program/aschalfpipe/
