The largest Amphibious Landing in History 156,115 Allied Soldiers landed in Normandy, France as part of the allied operation, Overlord to free France from German occupation, including, 14,000 Canadians on Juno Beach and 450 Canadian Paratroopers. 25,000 Allied Sailors and 7,000 Naval Vessels participated in the naval Operation, code named Neptune, including 10,000 Canadians, 109 Royal Canadian Naval Vessels 11,590 Allied Aircraft, bombers, fighters, transport, and gliders were in the air on June 6th flying 14,674 sorties, including 1,065 Canadian Aircraft. 10,000 Allies Casualties on June 6th, including 1,074 Canadians 230,200 Allied Casualties during the Normandy Invasion that lasted 2 months, 3 weeks and 3 days, including. 18,000 Canadians 1.1 million Canadians served in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, and Royal Canadian Airforce in WW2 out of a population of 11.5 million.
